Camcorder Tips

• There’s nothing worse than your batteries dying in the midst of a great shot. So, before you begin a day’s filming, always recharge your batteries and if possible, invest in a spare.

• When filming, remember the most important rule: hold your hand steady!! Get accustomed with the way your camcorder moves as well as the weight. In time you should get the right feel for it.

• Consider investing in a tripod. The smoothness and level shooting is unparalleled.

• For a more professional look to your videos, use the zoom function to a minimum, and when you do use it, zoom, pause, then record again. Zooming whilst recording can create amateurish footage, so try and keep the view constant.

• When moving the camera, go slowly as well as steadily, and stay focused so it does not distract the viewer or create a blurry shot.

• Find a good location to do your filming, and stay focused on your subject.

• Remember that light is important to film a decent shot. Although newer models have “night” functions, a good source of light will always ensure better filming.
