ABOUT FAX MACHINES

To fax means to reproduce. That is basically what fax machines do: they transmit a document image on one machine to another machine through telephone lines where a replica of the original document is recreated.

Types of fax machines

Stand Alone: the most common type which makes use of a dedicated telephone line and number, and automatically responds incoming telephone calls and seeks to deal a fax connection.

Combination Faxes: these machines have the capabilities to manage faxes either automatically or through intervention from the person sending the fax. These may serve as computer printer, fax machine and photocopier.

Computer-based Faxes: these machines offer services that are more prevalent in offices because they can be automatically forwarded to the correct recipient via internal email; furthermore, can be helpful to save the use of paper and ink when used as receipt. These machines support also the transmitting of documents created using word processing packages directly to another fax machine.
