The iPod shuffle has a USB connector that plugs into a standard USB Port for recharging and data transfer. Modern iPod models have variable speed chips with a peak of 80 MHz to save a battery life. iPod has 32 MiB flash ROM chip that includes bootloader, one who instructs the device to load the operating system from another medium. All iPods have 32 MiB of RAM which holds the iPod OS loaded from the firmware and the vast majority of which works to store songs loaded off of the hard drive. Compatibilty Apple began marketing iPods interacted with Windows compatibility
last July 17, 2002, with its internal drive formatted in FAT32. iPod’s
hard drive formatted as HFS + works only with a Macintosh because HFS
+ is not recognised by Windows. iPod formatted as FAT32 can work together
with Macintosh same as with PC. HFS+ leaves slightly more space available
to cache data; furthermore, allows the iPod to work as a boot disk for
Macintosh computer. iPod uses standard USB and FireWire mass-storage
connectivity that can mount system and use it as an external hard drive.
