Photocopiers

Analogue Photocopiers

With the literal meaning ‘dry writing’, xerography, which is the technology used by analogue photocopiers to copy documents faster, entails an image or shadow that is projected against a smooth surface charged with static electricity. When an image is reflected on the surface, the toner which is made up of fine oppositely charged particles get attracted to the reflective surface which then in turn transfers the image to the paper. Then, the last step is to heat the images to set the toner.

Digital Photocopiers

A digital photocopier follows the same procedure, only the image is digitized and stored in a memory card that enables you to retrieve and reprint documents even in the absence of the original copy. Digital photocopiers produce clearer images as compared to analogue because the digitized data is written with the use of laser. The same process of printing follows.
