How messages are sent

Text messaging has two types: Mobile Terminated or MT and Mobile Originated or MO. MT messages are sent to the mobile unit, while MO message are sent from a mobile unit.

Messages are sent via service centres, through a store-and-forward function. There are no guarantees that a message can be sent, or be received by your intended recipient. Delays and even complete loss of messages are not uncommon. To make sure that your message has reached your intended recipient, you can opt to have delivery reports sent to you.
