Txt Lingo
Since text messages have a limited number of characters per message,
and typing in complete words take time, users are forced to abbreviate
their messages so they can convey their entire messages. The more common
way of abbreviating involves making the use of numbers instead of words
(4 is “for”, 2 is “to”), or using single letters
that sound like entire words (u for “you”, c for “see”).
Others omit vowels, while others even omit spaces altogether and create
coherence by varying the capitalization, as in “WhereAreYou?”
However, there is a new technology that serves to improve the speed
of typing in text. Most mobile phones now employ predictive text software,
or also known as T9 dictionary. As words are usually spelled completely,
using predictive text will cause you to send more messages.
