Types of Wireless Technology![]() InfraredThe sensing of light by living things is a universal function. However certain portions of the spectrum of light, mainly those at the extreme end of the spectrum are invisible to the human eye. Infrared, which is located at a portion of the spectrum with wavelengths slightly longer than visible red is one such example. It is not invisible to all eyes, however. Recently it has been discovered that infra red may be used to transmit signals or pulses that could be interpreted by a receiving unit. Short Wave RadioShortwave frequencies oscillate at a rate slower than that of Bluetooth. AM and FM commercial radio signals of today still use this signal. This provides a better signal to noise ratio thereby making blue tooth the medium of choice for data and information transfer, whereas shortwave is better used as a medium for transmitting analog audio. Bluetooth Bluetooth operates on a frequency set by an international committee
that is assigned to standardize and synchronize the manner in which
industrial, scientific and medical devices communicate. With its shorter
range and lower power output, this ensures that interference is kept
to a minimum. |
